DevOps Engineer with Author-it

Join a sharp team of engineers helping to maintain existing AWS hosted infrastructure – such a good move!

Smart, innovative, and growing

What if we told you that you could be part of a world-leading and growing software company – and that you could also play a key role in our future growth and technologies? Well, we hope you’d be very interested!

Author-it Software Co. (ASC) is a world leading provider of on-premise and cloud-based products for authoring technical publications, e-learning and pharmaceutical information.

What does that mean for our customers? Our two software platforms, Docuvera and Author-it, enable the transformation of how our customers create and manage their content, leveraging a component first approach where content is broken down, easily assembled into documents, and reused across their organisation.

Exciting times are ahead, and you’ll be part of them.

As we spread the reach of our platforms here in NZ, we need the best people behind the scenes, making sure our products are better than ever. That’s where you come in. We need a skilled DevOps Engineer to not only help us maintain AWS infrastructure but also contribute to the design and delivery of changes we’ve got planned for our product roadmap. You’ll need to be open to being part of an on-call rotation and be nimble enough to deal with unexpected tech roll outs or changes to the environment.

With your analytical mind and keen instinct for finding solutions to complex problems, you’ll be as happy developing and deploying software as you are finding out the most efficient solution to any challenge. As part of that, you’ll be automating manual processes using tools like CloudFormation or Ansible and closely monitor, and help with improving, the security of our platforms.

Bring your people skills, not just coding

Are you keen to be part of a tight-knit bunch of people who have each other’s backs and value the teamwork integral to the team? Great, you’ll fit in well here.

Work in the engineering space is always a massive team effort, so along with your hard skills working with a combination of Windows and Linux servers and deploying new environments, you’ll also be someone your team can count on to bring a cheerful outlook, who encourages them to do their best work together.

That said, of course, you will bring significant experience with managing an AWS environment – which means you will have good familiarity with the below:

  • CloudFormation
  • DataPipeline
  • DynamoDb
  • ECS
  • EC2
  • ElasticSearch
  • IAM
  • Lambda
  • RDS
  • SE

You’ll have at least 3 years’ experience with source control and basic SQL querying skills, so Windows and Linux administration and shell scripting, Ansible, Jenkins, the CI/CD process and Network management are all words you understand!

On top of that, you have a strong, natural instinct for how software is supposed to work and you’re also a meticulous planner, always looking ahead, organising what’s next, and being a positive influence on your team members so that you’re all driving to do great work.

This role is to be based out of our Palmerston North office.

Be supported to grow

Our sights are firmly set on creating the next generation of cloud-based SaaS for Life Sciences and improving our Author-it product. It’s quite a big goal, and that’s why we need the right people on board. With offices across the globe, generous packages, great flexibility and a range of other benefits options, your future here is as good as it gets.

We’re ready to grow. Are you?
