The Role

We are currently looking for a Technical Team Lead to join our Wellington office in our Applications Practice. This role requires someone who can lead and inspire a team of developers and technical consultants to succeed but who also like to get their hands into the code themselves. To be successful in this role you must have a solid understanding of technical concepts (cloud, development and integration) and be a results-oriented individual who thrives working in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects at the same time. As the conduit between the business and technical teams, your passion for what you do will show. You must be a natural communicator and can easily articulate technical benefits to non-technical audiences. Most importantly, as a technical leader, you are a role model who people learn from when it comes to development.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Leading an Applications focused technical team to deliver projects and supporting business as usual activities.
  • Leading by example including, scoping, design, coding, peer reviews and debugging.
  • You will be the technical leader for your team, using techniques like pair-programming and code reviews, you will drive quality outcomes through the team.
  • Being a conduit between the business and the technical teams.
  • Anticipating risks and issues before they arise and coming up with solutions.
  • Contributing to, refining and implementing best practices and ways of working.
  • Proactively keeping up to date with the latest trends, understanding how these relate to the services Walkerscott offers.

 Technical Requirements

  • Proven experience working with the IT Services sector and leading team of technical staff.
  • Hands on experience with the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps and/or DevOps processes.
  • Knowledge and ability of web-based applications within large enterprises.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (CRM, NAV, AX etc), Common Data Service (CDS) and/or PowerApps.
  • Experience with .NET Core, AngularJS or similar frameworks.
  • Understanding and/or experience with systems integration and APIs.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Business Intelligence reporting environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and decision-making skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
  • Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills
  • An eye for detail and a focus on quality.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects with local and remote team members.
  • Good analytical, troubleshooting and ability to solve complex problems by breaking them down and estimating accurately
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment.
